[They] do not profess to know what literature should be, but attempt to uncover what it could be, either in theory or practice.

The "Workshop of Potential Literature" was founded in 1960, and served to fuse concepts of literature and science by at first identifying and then creating constraints for the generation of written works.

OuLiPo at Wikipedia

This website uses a number of OuLiPo constraints in the construction of its works. To aid in the understanding of the works on this site (many of which date back to the earliest days of the 21st century) this section lists the main constraints used and provides guidance for players.
